Chef Chee Hwee Tong has had a successful career developing Chinese cuisine at famed restaurants in Asia and London. Since returning to London, Gouqi will be Chef Tong’s first solo venture that he launched on the 17th of February 2023 across from Trafalgar Square, London.

Gouqi, marks Chef Tong’s return to the London restaurant scene following his departure from International Restaurant Group, Hakkasan in 2019 as Executive Head Chef.
Under his leadership, Hakkasan Group became the global leader in contemporary Chinese cuisine, with Hakkasan, Yauatcha and HKK all winning Michelin stars.
Concept
The name Gouqi, originated as a play on the goji berry, a symbol of health and vitality that inspires the ethos of the restaurant.
Gouqi’s interior is refined and understated with low lighting, exquisite finishes with artwork from 6 different award winning artists and flower arrangements by Botanique Workshop. The restaurant offers ample banquette seating and views of the kitchen from the restaurant.
In addition to the main restaurant, there are also 2 private dining rooms, The Ruby and The Crimson and 3 tables in a semi-private area.

Menus
Using premium live produce, seasonal ingredients to offer a range of flavours, techniques, ingredients and dishes drawn from across China that can be reflected in our menus.
Guests can enjoy a well crafted 8 course tasting menu with a wine pairing option as well as a la carte sharing options and as of the 1st of March, there will be a more extensive dim sum menu to order.
Gouqi is home to a traditional wine cellar that is well stocked and features Chinese and Goji wines. Our innovative cocktail programme is inspired by the four Chinese mythological creatures, the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermillion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Tortoise of the North.

Private Dining
Gouqi boasts of two private dining spaces for more intimate occasions. The Crimson and the Ruby, our two interconnecting private rooms accommodates 8 and 10, or 20 combined. When booked, both private dining rooms can offer an 8 course tasting menu and wine pairing option. Enquire today to book the private dining spaces.

Yes, the chicken and Peking duck are halal (not including the sauce). We are also looking to introduce beef Halal options in the future.
Yes, we offer both and your server will be happy to run you through the options when you visit.
